Bermudian-based Mt Logan Capital Management Ltd, the third-party capital management platform of Everest Group Ltd, has appointed Sun Siang Liew as chief analytics officer.

Mt Logan said Mr Liew will lead the company’s portfolio management and actuarial analytics functions, reporting to John Modin, chief executive of MLCM, who said: “I am pleased to welcome Sun to MLCM, who brings a proven track record in portfolio management, analytics and optimisation to our ILS team.

“Sun is well versed in reinsurance affiliated manager offerings, and I look forward to working with him as we enhance our tailored strategies and develop products to meet investors’ objectives and drive MLCM’s continued growth.”

Before joining MLCM, Mr Liew was senior vice-president of portfolio analytics at RenaissanceRe, following its acquisition of Validus Re.

At Validus Re, Mt Logan said, he was part of the management team for AlphaCat Managers, its third-party capital affiliate, where he led portfolio analytics and played a pivotal role in investor portfolio construction and product development.

“As we expand our offerings, Sun’s expertise will provide investors with advanced analytics to assess and monitor Everest-sponsored strategies through MLCM, further strengthening our investor-focused platform,” added Youssef Sfaif, president and chief operating officer of MLCM.

As of January 1, Everest’s third-party capital facilitated by MLCM totalled $1.8 billion, a company record.
