New board appointments at Aspen

Christian Dunleavy has been appointed a director of Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd, and Michael Lagler has been named as a non-executive director.

Mr Dunleavy is group president and chief executive of Aspen Bermuda Limited, and responsible for the group’s underwriting strategy, claims and business development.

He has more than 25 years’ experience in reinsurance, and joined Aspen in 2015 as global head of property cat reinsurance before being promoted to group chief underwriting officer in 2022.

Mr Lagler is a private equity associate for Apollo Global Management. He is based in London and focuses on private equity investments in insurance and financial services. Before joining Apollo, he was a member of the investment banking team in the financial institutions group and subsequently the mergers and acquisitions group at Perella Weinberg Partners.

Group chief executive and chairman Mark Cloutier said: “I am pleased to welcome Christian and Michael to the board of Aspen. Christian joining the board follows his appointment as group president last year, while Michael will bring highly relevant financial services, insurance and capital markets experience.”
