?Purpose Driven Life? seminar set for today

A local pastor will be leading a ?purpose driven life? seminar at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel today.

Pastor Gary Simons said that the seminar was based on the book that spent more than 70 weeks on The New York Times? best-seller list ? ?The Purpose Driven Life?.

?Purpose Driven Ministries along with walk through the Bible have linked together to do this live seminar,? he said.

?They trained 30 of us to teach in different parts of the world,? he said. ?I was on a ship called in Guyana, South America.

?It was a missionary ship of 200 young missionaries who dedicate two years of their life to go from port to port all over South and Central America, the east coast of North America and the Caribbean. The ship then spends three weeks at each port on all sorts of ministries.?

He said the missionaries offers help like rebuilding homes and churches or holding medical clinics.

The Purpose Driven Life seminar was about the premise that ?many people in life are existing but are not living according to God?s purposes,? he said.

?And basically it talks about the five main purposes why we are put on Earth. And in a nutshell, that is what the seminar is about.?

The five purposes are:

?We were planned for God?s pleasure, so your first purpose is to offer real worship.?

?We were formed for God?s family, so your second purpose is to enjoy real fellowship.?

?We were created to become like Christ, so your third purpose is to learn real discipleship.?

?We were shaped for serving God, so your fourth purpose is to practice real ministry.?

?We were made for a mission, so your fifth purpose is to live out real evangelism.

?Pastor Simons said: ?It is very life-changing experience. Basically, it?s teaching from the Bible in which God?s word comes alive to relate to everyday experiences,? he said.

He also said there will be theatre and music as one of the soloists from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Susan Qyntine, will sing the ?popular song, ?For Every Mountain?, he said.

Tickets for the seminar that starts at 8.30 a.m. and finishes at 4.30 p.m can be bought at the Christian Bookstore or from the Cornerstone Bible Fellowship at 295-9640.
