Nature and a lack of money.

The Chapel of Ease in St. David's is experiencing serious leaks through its 146-year-old slate roof whenever it rains and the water threatens to seriously damage the church's $17,000 organ.

The Rev. Donald Moore told The Royal Gazette that he was "going through the process of getting a professional to look at the roof'' but the main problem was going to be the cost of the entire project which had yet to be determined.

Like other churches, Chapel of Ease's funds "were not that great'' but it did "hold its own''.

The worst case scenario was that the whole roof would have to be replaced and the best thing would be that only certain areas would have to be restored.

Mr. Moore said he was trying to formulate "an action plan'' as to how and when to do the necessary work, how much labour and materials were going to cost and whether or not he would be able to enlist the aid of any volunteers.
