The Chapel of Ease will be holding their annual Boat Blessing ceremony this Sunday at the Chapel of Ease dock which will be attended by Cannon Francis, the Salvation Army Band and boats that will be blessed.

Boats that wish to receive the blessing have been asked to congregate prior to 8.30 a.m. close to the Chapel of Ease dock in St. Davids, and then proceed past the dock individually.

After the service, a traditional cod fish breakfast with all the trimmings will be served in the Chapel of Ease schoolroom. Tradition has it that in 1849, Bishop Field came to remote St. David's to consecrate the Chapel of Ease, and when he arrived to perform the ceremony, there were many boats sailing in to watch, which he also blessed.

In the intervening decades, a re-enactment of that day had only been celebrated a handful of times until several years ago when the Anglican Church decided to make it an annual event.

The man behind the revival was the former priest of the Chapel of Ease, Rev.

Don Moore.

This year the service will be led by the current Priest-in-charge, Rev. Carl Williams.
