Gospel singer shares Christ's `good news'

Alvin Slaughter spread God's message during a performance on Wednesday night at the Vernon Temple AME Church in Southampton.

"My greatest desire through my music is to build faith and bridge the gap between God and His people,'' he said.

Mr. Slaughter, who hails from New York, has performed at many American venues including Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall.

He has also shared the "Good News'', via song, with people around the world during concerts in Israel, Japan, Africa and England.

Over the years, Mr. Slaughter has been nominated for a number of awards including a Stellar Award -- the Gospel Music's equivalent of the Grammys.

He has been a featured vocalist on six of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir albums in addition to releaseing three solo projects in the last seven years.

His 1994 release, "Revive Us Again'' was a best seller and he has made appearances on TV.

Mr. Slaughter only spent one day on the Island. He flew in on the day of the concert and left the next day.
