The West End's only Christian Bookstore reached a milestone today -- its first anniversary.

David Taylor opened his Christian bookstore, the only one in Somerset, to meet the needs of the devout in the West End.

"I opened it because the Lord led me to do it, to have a store specifically in Somerset'' Mr. Taylor explained.

Taylor's Christian Book and Music Store may be small and quaint but according to its owner it is the little extras that makes it different.

"We are willing to do special orders and are willing to deliver,'' he said.

"It is the anointing of God that makes it unique. My business is strictly run by faith.'' But Mr. Taylor did not lay the store's success solely at the feet of the Lord; some praise went to his wife Lorna Jean Taylor as well as friends and family.

"The store is also run with the support of a wonderful praying wife,'' he admitted. "When times were hard she told me to hold on.

"I just truly thank God for the blessing I get from my family, friends, Church. And I have a special thanks for Rev. Diane Tacklyn of the New Testament Church of God.'' Mr. Taylor, a Somerset resident, said that his best sellers were giant-print Bibles, children's Bibles, choir gowns and ministerial robes.

And despite the steady business, he said that he had no plans to expand, unless God directed him to.

"I am happy with the way it is now,'' he said. "As God makes ways for me to expand I'll do it. As God leads and directs, I'll follow. The store is run by faith.'' Taylor's Christian Bookstore is open from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday thru Friday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays. The store is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
