A former Senator plans to set up a local religion school.

Dr. N. Cindy Trimm -- chief executive officer of Dominion Ambassador Inc., a multidisciplinary service-oriented corporation -- hopes to open a local campus of the University of Kingdom Living next year.

As an international lecturer and motivational speaker, Dr. Trimm has been preaching the message of the Kingdom for almost 20 years.

She holds a doctorate in Philosophy of Education and is currently pursuing one in Natural Medicine.

Dr. Trimm, a former United Bermuda Party Senator, recently told The Royal Gazette she hoped to empower and train members from local churches through her school.

"We will train, equip and empower members to go back into the community,'' she said, adding that the school will strive to build "moral and ethical citizens''.

"We are not just interested in people's spiritual life,'' she said. "We are interested in the whole life. We seek to bring balance to life.'' Dr. Trimm also said she hoped to reach the Island's youth through the school.

"I've always been active with the youth,'' she said. "I just seem to draw them to me.

"I hope to draw in the local youth. I want to be a positive role model for them so they can see someone who has become successful without drugs and without sacrificing their integrity and moral fibre.'' The Bermuda campus of the University of Kingdom Living, which already has campuses in Ontario and Florida, will offer courses like The Purpose of the Church and Kingdom Economic and Biblical Finance.

Dr. Trimm said the new school will realise a long standing dream of hers.

"I have always wanted to return home and make some sort of contribution to my home,'' she said. "I would like to make some spiritual deposits.

"I am overjoyed to be bringing it to Bermuda.'' Dr. Trimm, who has been a full time minister for the last four or five years, said she hoped the University of Kingdom Living would be open by January.

"We are still finalising the plans,'' she explained. "By January, 1998 we will be taking the first students. I have spoken to several local pastors and they are very interested.'' Dr. Trimm has been the recipient of numerous awards including The 30 Most Outstanding Young People of the World, The Outstanding Christian Woman of the Year and Woman of the Year.

She has also been included in the World Who's Who of Women, the Two Thousand Notable American Women and the International Who's Who of Professional and Business Women.
