Spiritual revival is focus of women's conference

Local women in need of spiritual revival will get a chance to renew their acquaintance with or even find their way to God.

For women from all religious denominations will come together at next month's Bermuda Interdenominational Women's Conference.

Organiser Avril Hassel told The Royal Gazette that Bermuda's women were in need of restoration.

"The purpose of this interdenominational Women's Conference is to focus on the restoration of the brokenness of our lives,'' Mrs. Hassel explained.

"Jesus wants to restore us to be the women that He called us to be. We need to re-focus on the fact that our Father really can do all things. Once they have been restored they can be better wives, mothers and daughters.

"This conference will be a time set aside specifically for deep, sincere, sharing ministering, healing and deliverance in an atmosphere where God can manifest His miracles amongst a group of women openly seeking His will.'' Mrs. Hassel said she had spent the last two years organising the conference, which will run from November 21 to 24 at the Sonesta Beach Hotel and Spa in Southampton. "In 1994 I was shown by the Lord to host this conference in Bermuda,'' she recalled. "The last time there was an interdenominational spiritual retreat of this size was 12 years ago.'' Mrs. Hassel said the conference would feature visiting and local female speakers who will conduct workshops.

"We have heard most of the women, from abroad, before,'' she explained.

"Some of us have traveled to other women's conferences before, so we knew them. They all have a story to tell.'' New York's Rev. Elaine Flake and Rev. Jackie McCullough plus Elder Carolyn Ramsey from Texas will be some of the Conference's foreign facilitators.

Local contributors include Rev. Diane Tacklyn of the New Testament Church of God, Sister Roxanne Haynes of Vernon Temple and Elder Debra Evans of the First Church of God.

The Conference will commence with an opening evening worship service and dinner on Thursday, November 21. Friday and Saturday will feature workshops with a closing service at Centennial Hall on Sunday.

Mrs. Hassel said women could check into Sonesta for the weekend or just attend each day's sessions.

"It will be exciting because it will be a great time for fellowship and a chance to share,'' she said. "You may come burdened but you'll leave relieved and renewed.'' The deadline for registering for the conference is October 18 and forms are available at The Christian Book Store or at most churches.
