Christian singers are feeling the spirit
Next weekend is set to be an exciting time with two concerts hosted by Bermuda Spirit 105.1FM.
Since its launch a couple of years ago, the radio station has been working tirelessly to bring wholesome entertainment to the community through a variety of concerts that appeal to a broad spectrum of the community at large.
Jesus: The Password, is a youth concert featuring international artists Reubin Heights and Monty "G", as well as the Generation Now Ministries and local artists Big Snipes, Septimus, Troy Anthony, Firekid, Deandre Morris, Canjelae Taylor, Lauren Easton and the Hallal Dance Ministries.
Reubin Heights is a Gospel Reggae artist from the Bahamas who has been touring with dancehall reggae artist for several years, even working together on different projects. Both have had an awesome influence on young people the world over.
The mixture of these international personalities and Bermuda's own gospel artists is not new.
Several of them, including Troy Anthony and Firekid, have already appeared on internationally sold albums, most recently DJ Frost Presents: The Street Light Mixtape Vol. 3.
Generation Now Ministries is the youth ministry outlet of the House of Prayer church in Chesterfield, Virginia.
The evening will be hosted by J.T. Thomas host of the show "Rise and Shine" on the Tempo cable channel, who will also be filming the concert and sharing highlights on his cable show.
Also a key part of the concert will be the honouring of several long-standing youth ministers in the community, including Mark Hall of Word of Life Bermuda, Joshua Samuels at Cornerstone, Kevin Mahoney and Sheree Jacobs of Young Life, and the Kingdom Links ministry at Richard Allen AME, under the leadership of Gina Wainright and Ernest Signor.
"Part of our mandate is to celebrate those in ministry," explained Gina Spence-Farmer, director and on-air morning personality, Sister G, on Bermuda Spirit. "We've selected these people and ministries based on their outreach within their churches and internationally."
Jesus: The Password Concert will be held on Saturday, June 14 at Heritage Worship Centre, beginning at 7.30 p.m. Tickets are already going very quickly as many youth ministries have already opted to purchase tickets for their entire groups.
On Father's Day, Bermuda Spirit will be hosting the Father's Day Dinner and Show, an event they hope will become an annual event.
Beginning with a full-course dinner created by Chef Shawn Ming at the Bermuda College, guests will enjoy a classy show beginning at 5 p.m.
Top artist for the evening is international artist Dano Rolle, who will be sharing a selection of gospel and praise songs.
He will also be joined on the stage by three of Bermuda's divas – Lady Tyson, Toni Robinson and Richisha Binns, as well as saxophonist Calvin Simons and His Hands Ministries. Additional artists are also in the works.
The dinner and concert will be held in the Bermuda College Student Hall.
Tickets for the Father's Day Dinner and Show are extremely limited, and cost $50 for both dinner and the show. Concert only tickets are $30.
Jesus: The Password youth concert tickets cost $25. They area available at the Christian Book Store and Heritage Book Store, as well as by calling 295-2828 x241.
