Wesley Methodist Church to hold Family Fun Day
Wesley Methodist Church (next to Greg's Steakhouse) on Church Street is gearing up to celebrate 'Family Fun Day' tomorrow (October 12), and as the event's title indicates, there will be something for everyone.
The day will lead off immediately after the 11 a.m. worship service with a gospel hymn sing for all who enjoy those much-loved and inspiring songs.
Food and beverages will be available for sale downstairs in the church hall from 12.30 p.m., while baked goods, candy, plants and 'gently used' items will be on sale from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., as will snow cones.
Games for adults, older children and small children will also begin at 1 p.m., with new games added every 30 minutes. There will be a series of competitive games for older children, with prizes for the winners, and treats for all players.
Adults can look forward to floral design and hanging basket demonstrations. A silent auction of special services, new and antique items, is also planned.
There will be puppet shows, interactive story-telling, special music and a bouncy castle for smaller children, and face painting for all ages.
Admission will be $10 for children aged three to 12, which includes participation in six games, enjoyment of bouncy castle, puppet shows, story-telling, special music, and a dress-up area for the little ones. Additional game tickets will be $1.50 each.
Organisers view 'Family Fun Day' as Wesley's opportunity to invite the whole community to become familiar with the church, both the building and its members.
"We want everyone who attends to feel welcome, and to experience the warmth and diversity of the Wesley Church family," a spokesperson said. "Please plan to attend, and also invite others to join in the fun and fellowship of our Family Fun Day Carnival."
