Venita is on time –and on target with Advent book

Venita Caesar-Smith presents the first copy of her thought-provoking book to Pastor Howard Dill and his wife Dr Emilygail Dill.

Venita on time and on targetThis past Sunday was celebrated in Christian Churches as the first Sunday in Advent, the season leading up to Christmas, and of course the birth of Christ.Consequently, Venita Ann Caesar-Smith, one of the elder members of Allen Temple AME Church, Somerset, was deemed to be “on time and on target” with a book she has produced. It embraces what Allen Temple Pastor the Rev Howard HL Dill called “the ABCs of Advent” with a Bermudian flair.Pastor Dill, upon accepting the first copy lauded Venita for having taken up his challenge several months ago to develop an Advent devotional for the church felllowship despite her own handicap of impaired vision. These are some of the chapters,in Venita’s book: Get a Tune Up; Checking the Roots; Doing What Comes Naturally: Demonstrate your Devotion to God; Evaluate how you have walked this year: Check Yourself; Remember Jesus is the Reason for the Season: Central Heating; and What’s Love Got to do with it? With Love being the Key Element of the whole reason for the Season!; and Straightening Up the Crooked Places.Mrs Caesar-Smith attended West End Primary and Sandys Secondary Schools as well as schools in Guyana and St. Kitts and college in Toronto. Her career emcompasses being a law clerk for 35 years and a two-year stint as a teacher at the Jean-Jacques Commercial School. She has produced a thought-provoking beautifully illustrated book with the aid of her computer and the expert assistance of her pastor’s wife Dr. Emilygail Dill as her editor; and illustrations by her cousin Rotimi Martins, 2nd, who holds degrees in Computer Animation and Graphic Art Design from the Art Institute of Atlanta.
