The public is invited to a block party at the First Church of God today.WuzUp will feature live entertainment, an area filled with activities for children, age appropriate games for teens, a water slide for all ages and a barbecue competition.There will also be cook-offs in the categories of baked goods and desserts.However the highlight of the event is expected to be a 15-minute presentation about the church’s missions.Event spokesman Jeremy Johnson said: “We think this is an excellent opportunity for people from all sectors of society to come together and have a fun-filled time in a safe and relaxed environment.”He said the idea for the block party came from Minister Danica Burrows, head of conservation at the North Shore church.“She had a view to connect with the neighbourhood as an evangelistic effort and to show what we are doing in the way of conservation — ongoing preservation of in-house ministries,” explained Mr Johnson, who is also the church’s director of missions.“The intent is now to inform the public about what we are doing and plan to do, and for everyone to have some fun as we dialogue.The event will run from 3pm until 9pm.
