Our purpose in life is in the hands of God
There are many young singles. Some content and others discontent about their singleness. Some searching for the right man or woman, others waiting for God’s perfect timing and some that want to remain or feel called to be single. There are some pressures singles face. Sometimes they may feel the pressure from others to get married. They may hear from people who mean well saying to them: “When are you getting married?” or “The clock is ticking.” And “Why are you not married yet.”Some often hear this and in their 20s and early 30s rush into something that is not real. Knowing God’s purpose for your life and embracing the season you are currently in can help young women and young men not to give into the pressures of singleness. There are advantages and blessings in being single. Rushing into marriage can have negative outcomes.Doing positive activities you enjoy and spending more time with God can help singles to look beyond their singleness.Develop a strong relationship with God.It is important that singles grow in their relationship with God. A strong relationship with God will prepare you for the man or woman of God that God may have for you.God must be first in our lives and when we put another in His place that’s when we fall into the traps of Satan. As singles digging deep into the Word of God and prayer with God we are placing our commitment to God first. Matthew 6:33 tells us “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”Know God’s purpose for your life. What am I here for? What has God placed in my heart to do? When we know and walk in God’s purpose for our lives as singles we can know and realise that our purpose is not attached to a man or woman, but is in the hands of the Lord.Embrace the season you are in.What season are you in? Timing and seasons are all in the Lord’s control. We must learn to stay in rhythm to his beat.In this season what has God told you to do? Seasons change and although you are single now a season of getting married and starting a family may be on the way.Do you have a hobby you enjoy doing? Do you have a gift and talent you would like to develop? During singleness there may be more room to do these.Marriage is a blessing, but often times many have less time and room for these things when married and raising children. When we enjoy life as a single we will know how to enjoy life in marriage even with its challenges on both ends.Delight yourself in the Lord. When we put our enjoyment in the Lord His desires become our desires. Whatever the Lord desires for your life it will be fulfilled.Trust that He has a perfect plan for you and wants what’s only best for you.Psalm 37: 4 encourages us with this truth “Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
