Seminars to explore ‘cosmic conflict’
The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hamilton will hold seminars based on the Book of Revelation next month.
Church pastor Sydney Gibbons said the community-building talks would complement the range of services provided by the church.
The seminars start on November 1.
Entitled ‘War of Ages’, they will explore themes of “cosmic conflict and reconciliation” in the final book of the Bible.
“I want to bring it into a context of reality — the message of Revelation speaks to all people,” Dr Gibbons said. “It’s about building community, building relationships and believing there is hope to our current conflicts.”
For many readers of the Bible, Revelation’s “dense symbology can prove a difficult read”, he conceded.
“That’s probably the norm, which makes it a book that needs to be carefully considered. The seminars will help people to better understand it.”
Additional events are also scheduled for the King Street church. A gospel concert on October 24 is aimed at raising funds to benefit Taur Caisey, who was badly injured in a road accident.
The church will also honour the Royal Bermuda Regiment for its services to the community on October 31.
Meanwhile, the church kitchens have been donated to assist with a Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless on November 26.
Next month’s seminars open with the dramatic documentary ‘The Origin of Evil’. They will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the month.
