Jehovah’s Witnesses invite public to attend Memorial
Jehovah’s Witnesses are inviting all residents to join them in celebrating the Memorial of Jesus Christ’s death on March 24 at sundown.
Also known as the Lord’s Evening Meal or the Lord’s Supper, the Memorial is a one-hour event that will feature a talk highlighting the significance of Jesus’s death and what it means for all mankind.
Jehovah’s Witnesses launched a campaign this month to invite all members of the community to attend both the annual observance and a special Bible talk that will be delivered this weekend.
The talk, entitled “The Resurrection — Victory Over Death!”, will be delivered in both English and Portuguese, at local Kingdom Halls of Jehovah’s Witnesses today and tomorrow. This 30-minute, Bible-based public discourse will focus on the scriptural hope of a resurrection of the dead in the near future. It will be delivered in English and Portuguese.
Globally, 20 million people attended last year’s Memorial. “Around the world, many people who are not Jehovah’s Witnesses will attend the Memorial of Jesus Christ’s death,” said Dean Grant, spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Bermuda. “It is our hope that members of the Bermuda community will join us to remember and show gratitude for his priceless sacrifice. While it is a solemn occasion, it is also a joyous one.”
Warwick resident Manuel DaCosta said: “It is important to take time to remember what Jesus went through to save all of us. We look forward to gaining comfort and to strengthening our faith.”
Janaya Heaven from Paget agreed. Every year she looks forward to attending the Memorial with her family. “We get to join millions around the world in showing appreciation for the love God and Jesus have shown us,” she said. “Attending the Memorial also motivates me to draw closer to them.”
