Sapphire to host renewal events
Sapphire Faith International Ministries is to stage a double-header event next weekend under the theme of “Keth a Fire”.
A gospel concert on March 29 at 7pm at the Heritage Worship Centre, will be followed by a Sunday Night Revival on March 30 at Glory Temple, Southside, St David’s, at 6.30pm.
Mother and daughter, the Reverend Marlene Flynn and chaplin Shaunte Simons-Fox, cofounded Sapphire Faith International Ministries, which launched its first ministry conference in 2019.
“Our ministry was birthed out of a desire to inspire our community and share the transformative power of faith,” Ms Simons-Fox said.
“Since 2019, we have organised approximately two to three conferences each year, with our first event focused on helping individuals ‘start their year strong’. This theme emphasises the importance of looking forward and embracing new beginnings, allowing us to colour our lives anew by the grace of God.”
Asked what inspired the “Ketch a Fire” theme, Ms Flynn said: “Reflecting on the verse John 12:32, King James Version, ‘And I, if I be lifted up from the Earth, will draw all men unto me.’ The Lord does not always use this ministry one way, so we are open to what He wants to do because we are doing this for His glory and honour.
“I sense the Lord wants to ‘draw all men unto’ Himself by bringing the community together, not just of church people, but bring the community together to heal and be loved and embraced.
“For the church to be caught on fire and to be able to do what God has assigned us to do, we need to be more out of the walls and reach out to those persons who are hurting.”
Speaking on organising the concert and selecting the speaker and artist, Ms Flynn said: “Organising the Ketch a Fire concert has been a collaborative effort. We prioritised selecting gospel artists who resonate with our mission of revival and inspiration.
“We are thrilled to feature award-winning evangelist Marvia Providence, who has ministered worldwide.
“The concert also includes an incredible line-up of talented performers, including the Bermuda AME Conference Choir, Whopper Benz, Larrita Adderley, Demara Maybury, Riche Robinson, Greater Heights Praise Team, Mala'k, Dance Ministry, Cherann Brangman, Sacred Hearts, and others. Each artist brings a unique flair that we believe will ignite the spirit of the attendees.”
Adding to the excitement for Ms Providence, Ms Flynn continued, “Her songs cross different genres; calypso, reggae, and old hymns are part of the sounds that come out of her.
“So, these are dancing music and worship music. As an evangelist, she is a revivalist; this is why we have her speaking on Sunday night at Glory Temple.
“By the anointing of God upon her life, by the grace of God upon her life, she can bring people together, pour into them, and speak into their lives.
“People need this when they are discouraged; they need a word from the Lord, and I believe that she is coming with a word from the Lord but with a fire from the Holy Ghost.
“That fire, that energy, is like fuel that takes us from being down and hopeless to a place where you are hopeful and encouraged to continue to serve on the journey.”
When asked what community members can expect to experience when attending both events, Ms Simons Fox said, "Attendees can expect a powerful evening filled with gospel music, praise, and opportunities for meaningful encounters with God. In light of the turmoil Bermuda has faced over the past year, including challenges that have tested our community's resilience, we believe that this concert will serve as a vital opportunity for healing and unity.
“The Ketch a Fire concert aims to refocus our attention on what truly matters: coming together in love and support, celebrating the uplifting power of gospel music.”
On what she hopes attendees take from experiencing next weekend’s events, Ms Flynn and Ms Simons Fox said: “We hope the revival concert will serve as a catalyst for spiritual renewal within our community.
“This event promises to be transformative, bringing together individuals and families from various denominations and backgrounds to celebrate the healing power of gospel music.
“Our mission is to promote unity and fellowship, uplifting the spirits of our community and inspiring positive change. We aim for attendees to leave with a sense of hope, empowerment, and a deeper connection to their faith, realising that together, we can withstand any challenges and emerge stronger.
“Come on, Bermuda, let's fan the flames of Revival Fire. Bring something to wave!"
