Time to hunt for budget midfielder as Europe kicks in

Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi has provided three assists in last four games

North London is red once again after Arsenal got their third consecutive away win over Tottenham on Sunday, while goalkeeper Andre Onana saved a penalty to lead Manchester United to victory at Southampton the previous day.

Fantasy managers have challenging choices to make with European football launching this week, so Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is a strong budget option after getting his third assist in four games at Crystal Palace last week.

Saturday

West Ham United v Chelsea (8.30am)

West Ham substitute Danny Ings scored five minutes into stoppage time to grab a draw at Fulham last week. Niclas Fullkrug and Emerson Palmieri are doubtful this weekend for the Hammers with Achilles and knee injuries.

Chelsea loanee Jadon Sancho assisted Christopher Nkunku for the winning goal at Bournemouth last time. Malo Gusto, Reece James and Romeo Lavia are out with various problems, while Omari Kellyman is doubtful with a hamstring injury.

Prediction: 1-1

Aston Villa v Wolverhampton Wanderers (11am)

Aston Villa made the perfect start to their first Champions League campaign for three decades with a convincing away victory over Swiss champions Young Boys in midweek. Matty Cash is out with a hamstring injury, while Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara are doubtful.

Wolves failed to hold on to a half-time lead in the home defeat to Newcastle last weekend. Bastien Meupiyou, Boubacar Traore, Enso Gonzalez and Sasa Kalajdzic are out injured, while Rayan Ait-Nouri and Toti Antonio Gomes are doubtful.

Prediction: 2-0

Fulham v Newcastle United (11am)

Fulham were eliminated from the League Cup in midweek by Championship side Preston after losing 16-15 on penalties. Carlos Vinicius is out with a hamstring injury for the Cottagers this weekend.

Newcastle are unbeaten in their first four league games, taking down Wolves last weekend. Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles, Lewis Miley and Callum Wilson are out through injury this week, while Alexander Isak is doubtful with an eye injury.

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester City v Everton (11am)

Leicester twice squandered the lead to pick up their second draw of the season at Crystal Palace last week. Jakub Stolarczyk and Patson Daka are out with ankle injuries this weekend.

Everton have lost consecutive matches in which they took a two-goal lead, the latest at Aston Villa last Saturday. Jarrad Branthwaite, Nathan Patterson, Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti are out, while Seamus Coleman doubtful with a hamstring injury.

Prediction: 1-1

Liverpool v Bournemouth (11am)

Liverpool marked their first European match under head coach Arne Slot with a comfortable victory at AC Milan in midweek. Harvey Elliott is out with a foot injury this match.

Bournemouth lost narrowly at home to Chelsea last time out in their first defeat of the campaign. Tyler Adams and Dango Ouattara are out with back and ankle injuries respectively.

Prediction: 3-1

Southampton v Ipswich Town (11am)

Southampton have started with four straight defeats but took down Everton on penalties midweek in the League Cup.

Jack Stephens is suspended for three games after being sent off against Manchester United,while goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu and Kamaldeen Sulemana are out to Achilles and ankle injuries respectively. Will Smallbone is a doubt with a hamstring problem.

Ipswich kept Brighton at bay last week to get a valuable point, their second of the season. Nathan Broadhead and Harry Clarke are doubtful this week for the Tractor Boys.

Prediction: 2-1

Tottenham Hotspur v Brentford (11am)

Tottenham have started with just one win in their first four games and head coach Ange Postecoglou is under the microscope after the home North London derby defeat. Richarlison and Will Lankshear are out to injury, while Yves Bissouma is doubtful.

Brentford gave champions Manchester City a scare after just 22 seconds, the earliest league goal anyone has scored against City, in last week’s defeat at the Etihad. Goalscorer Yoann Wissa is out along with Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Josh DaSilva, Mathias Jensen, Gonzalo Nunes and Igor Thiago this week.

Prediction: 1-1

Crystal Palace v Manchester United (1.30pm)

Crystal Palace came from two goals down to draw at home to Leicester last week, before edging Queens Park Rangers in the League Cup on Tuesday. Trevoh Chalobah, Chadi Riad and Matheus Franca will miss this game for the Eagles, while Cheick Doucoure is doubtful with a toe injury.

Manchester United have scored ten goals in their last two games, getting their largest victory margin under Erik Ten Hag with a 7-0 cup victory against Barnsley in midweek. Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund are out for the Red Devils.

Prediction: 1-2

Sunday

Brighton & Hove Albion v Nottingham Forest (10am)

Brighton remain unbeaten despite being held to a goalless home draw by promoted Ipswich last time out. Solly March, James Milner and Matt O’Riley are out to injury or lack of fitness, while Brajan Gruda, Mats Wieffer and Joao Pedro are doubtful.

Nottingham Forest defeated Liverpool at Anfield for the first time in 55 years to remain unbeaten after four games. Danilo is out with an ankle injury, while Willy Boly and Ibrahim Sangare are doubtful.

Prediction: 3-1

Manchester City v Arsenal (12.30pm)

Manchester City continue to conquer everyone they have faced and are the only team still with an unblemished record. Nathan Ake and Oscar Bobb are out to muscle and leg injuries respectively.

Arsenal went back to basics to edge Tottenham in the North London derby and stay within two points of their title rivals. Kieran Tierney, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mikel Merino are out to various injuries this week, while Ricardo Calafiori, Martin Odegaard, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Bukayo Saka are doubtful.

Prediction: 2-2
