Title challengers do battle but shop for bargains

Brighton forward Georginio Rutter can bring in some valuable points

Fantasy managers have some fascinating choices this weekend as title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool clash at the Emirates Stadium.

In terms of players, Everton defender Michael Keane and Brighton forward Georginio Rutter are worthy budget options outside of the marquee battle.

Friday

Leicester City v Nottingham Forest (4pm)

Leicester have taken consecutive wins over Crystal Palace and Southampton either side of the international window to climb out of the relegation zone. Jakub Stolarczyk, Hamza Choudhury and Patson Daka are out with injury this weekend.

Forest continued their excellent start to the season with the home win over Palace and have suffered just one defeat in eight games. Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare are out , while Morgan Gibbs-White is doubtful with a minor ankle injury.

Prediction: 1-2

Saturday

Aston Villa v Bournemouth (11am)

Aston Villa won away to Fulham to continue their good form in all competitions. Young midfielder Jaden Philogene is suspended after being sent off at Fulham last week, while Robin Olsen is out to lack of fitness.

Bournemouth kept their concentration to take down ten-man Arsenal last week. The Cherries have no injury concerns this weekend.

Prediction: 2-1

Brentford v Ipswich Town (11am)

Brentford have suffered three defeats in five to slip to thirteenth after the defeat at Manchester United. Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Josh Dasilva, Gustavo Nunes and Igor Thiago are out this week, while Mathias Jensen is doubtful with a calf injury.

Ipswich have fallen to consecutive defeats after four straight draws. Jacob Greaves, Axel Tuanzebe and Massimo Luongo are unavailable, while Ben Johnson and Jens Cajuste are doubtful.

Prediction: 1-1

Brighton & Hove Albion v Wolverhampton Wanderers (11am)

Brighton are in the top five after eight matches under German coach Fabian Hurzeler. Adam Webster, James Milner, Matt O’Riley and Joao Pedro will miss this match, while Solly March, Yankuba Minteh and Danny Welbeck are doubtful.

Wolves conceded in added time to lose to Manchester City last weekend and remain winless. Yerson Mosquera, Boubacar Traore, Enso Gonzalez, Hwang Hee Chan and Sasa Kalajdzic are out this week, while Bastien Meupiyou and Sam Johnstone are doubtful.

Prediction: 2-0

Manchester City v Southampton (11am)

Manchester City edged Wolves thanks to John Stones’s last-minute winner to stay unbeaten. Oscar Bobb and Rodri remain out, while Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker are doubtful.

Southampton lost to Leicester at home last week despite scoring more than once for the first time this campaign. Ryan Fraser is suspended for three games after being sent off, Gavin Bazunu and Ross Stewart are out injured, while Yukinari Sugawara and Will Smallbone are doubtful.

Prediction: 3-0

Everton v Fulham (1.30pm)

Everton are unbeaten in four games but will be without James Garner, Tim Iroegbunam, Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti for this match. Jarrad Branthwaite is doubtful.

Fulham have followed up consecutive wins with two straight losses, the latest at home to Aston Villa. Joachim Andersen is suspended for three games after being dismissed last week, while Timothy Castagne, Jorge Cuenca, Sasa Lukic and Carlos Vinicius are out injured.

Prediction: 1-1

Sunday

Chelsea v Newcastle United (11am)

Chelsea made a strong showing in their narrow defeat to Liverpool last week. Omari Kellyman is out with a hamstring injury this week for the Blues.

Newcastle are winless in four games (two draws and two defeats) after starting with ten points from their first four. Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles and Kieran Trippier are out with knee and hamstring injuries, while Matt Targett, Callum Wilson and Martin Dubravka are doubtful.

Prediction: 3-1

Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur (11am)

Crystal Palace are still winless and remain in the drop zone after three defeats in a row. Chris Richards, Chadi Riad and Matheus Franca are out with various injuries, with Cheick Doucoure and Daniel Munoz doubtful.

Tottenham have scored the most goals in the division but still remain four points off fourth place despite the dominant home win over West Ham. Wilson Odobert is out with a hamstring injury, while Djed Spence is doubtful with a groin injury

Prediction: 0-2

West Ham United v Manchester United (11am)

West Ham have started life under Julen Lopetegui with just two wins from their first eight league games. Mohamed Kudus is suspended for three matches after being sent off violent conduct at Tottenham and Nicklas Fullkrug is out with an Achilles injury.

Manchester United finally got a victory at home to Brentford last weekend. Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro and Kobbie Mainoo are out to various injuries this week, while Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Casemiro are doubtful.

Prediction: 1-2

Arsenal v Liverpool (1.30pm)

Arsenal suffered their first loss of the season at Bournemouth, with key defender William Saliba sent off. The Frenchman is suspended for three games, while Kieran Tierney, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Martin Odegaard are injured. Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori are doubtful.

Liverpool have now won 11 of their first 12 games in all competitions this season under new head coach Arne Slot after their Champions League win at RB Leipzig. Alisson Becker is out with a hamstring injury, while Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa, Conor Bradley and Diogo Jota are doubtful.

Prediction: 2-2
