Mariners 17 Police 8Bottom team Mariners downed league champions Police to lift the Nicol Shield at the National Sports Centre.Mariners, the defending Shield champions, were rewarded with a try early on from Scott Brown, duly converted by Andy Boyce. Paul Davis then created the space for Dave Pringle to touch down for Police’s first points of the evening. The conversion was missed.Mariners’ Australian fly-half Lachlan Armour was then stretchered off with an ankle break which could rule him out of Bermuda’s upcoming international match against Bahamas. And Police lost the league’s top try scorer Durnferd Davis.In the second period, Police took the lead with a penalty from captain Tommy Edwards. From the resulting kick-off, Mariners were awarded a penalty and Boyce made no mistake as he put Mariners back in front.Mariners added to their lead with a try from captain Dave Rourke, converted by Boyce.Renegades 2 Teachers 0The ladies Scully Cup final saw league champions Renegades take on runners-up Teachers,It was Renegades who were out of the blocks fastest with Melissa Field darting over the line early on.
