CableVision’s regret over mix-up

Bermuda CableVision have expressed their regret at a scheduling mix-up that saw Sportsmax advertise the Rugby World Cup and then fail to show the first game. Some customers in Bermuda signed up for the sports channel expecting to be able to see the tournament’s opening ceremony and New Zealand’s first game against Tonga early yesterday morning, only to be shown Beach Soccer instead. However, while CableVision acknowledged fans’ frustration they said Sportsmax’s change of programming was something entirely out of their control.“In regards to SportsMax and the Rugby World Cup 2011, Bermuda CableVision would like to remind our customers that, on occasion, channel providers may lose the right to broadcast particular programming internationally or just in the Bermuda market,” Terry Roberson, the General Manager of Bermuda CableVision said.“Unfortunately this may occur at a time close to when that show or event was due to air.We regret the frustration and inconvenience this may cause; however this is something over which we have no control.“However, we would like to inform subscribers that we have contacted SportsMax for confirmation regarding whether or not the channel will still be broadcasting any of the Rugby World Cup 2011 as previously advertised. No communication has yet been received to clarify the situation.”Several customers who only signed up for the service this week because they wanted to watch the tournament have cancelled their subscriptions and have not been charged by CableVision for doing so.
