Dominant Jackson Langley wins inaugural Cambridge Beaches Triathlon
Jackson Langley gave a dominant display to triumph in the inaugural Cambridge Beaches Triathlon.
Competing in the Adult Individual Sprint event, consisting of a 750-metre swim, 20-kilometre bike and 5km run, Langley crossed the line in a winning time of 1hr 2min 59sec, almost five minutes clear of runner-up Spencer Butterfield (1:07:32).
Steven Smith was a further minute adrift in 1:08:41, ahead of Christine Dailey 1:10:09, the first female finisher, with Will Green (1:10:53) rounding out the top five places.
There was also delight for Paul Tohill, who took the honours in the Adult Individual Super Sprint race in a winning time of 47min 53sec, ahead of Charlotte Parkinson (49:34) with Alex Brown (50:13) completing the podium places.
The event also included junior divisions, with Liam Horrobin (21:43) claiming victory in the 7-10 race, ahead of Naomi MacGuinness (22:11) and Walker Smith (23:00), while there was also delight for Gianluca Bortoli in the 11-15 race, winning in a time of 38:26, ahead of Jens Drea (39:10) and Dylan Eiselt (41:06).
In the Adult Team Sprint Distance race, Tiger Roar prevailed in a time of 1:09:18 ahead of Tri Your Best (1:10:03) with Road Rascals (1:11:03) rounding out the top three places.
