Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia to benefit from Butterfield & Vallis 5K
Runners in this year’s Butterfield & Vallis 5K will be raising funds for Action Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
The event takes place on Sunday, January 21 with races starting at 8.30am with a 1K race for lower primary students. At 9am, the primary and middle school boys and girls will run the 2.7k route and 30 minutes later, the senior school students and adults will run 5k. Walkers will start five minutes after the runners.
In terms of incentives for runners, the first 900 to finish will receive a medal and $500 will be awarded to the primary, middle and secondary schools/junior groups with the most entries.
Draw prizes will include two Trek Hybrid pedal bikes from Winners’ Edge, breakfast for two at Grotto Bay and a month of group fitness classes at Alchemy. BF&M have donated activity trackers to all winners and there will also be a corporate prize for the company with the most entries.
To encourage runners to collect their numbers the day before the race, the first 900 participants at number pick-up will receive a dri-fit shirt and goodie bag filled with products from Axe, Carolina Rice, Coca-Cola, Folgers, Jif, KraftHeinz, Del Monte, Reign Storm, Pepperidge Farm, Planters Nuts, Powerade, Nature Valley and Beep.
On race day, volunteers from Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia will be assisting with the race, marshalling the course and manning the water stops with the Bermuda Red Cross on the course ensuring the safety of the participants.
