Dash in the Dark Series kicks off at Flora Duffy Stadium on Friday
Bermuda’s brightest future prospects will be on display during Mid-Atlantic Athletic Club Juniors Running Club’s 2024 Dash at Dark Series season opener at Flora Duffy Stadium on Friday.
Organisers are looking forward to another exciting event featuring junior runners aged between four and eleven who will compete over various distances.
“This is the first race in 2024 of MAAC Juniors’ DASH series and we are hoping to have many children between the ages of 4 and 11 taking part,” race co-director Rose-Anna Hoey told The Royal Gazette.
“There will be a different distance for each age group. The 4-5 year-olds will race over 400 metres, 6-7 year-olds over 800, 8-9 year-olds will compete over 1,200 metres and the 10-11 year-olds will race over a mile [1,600m].
“This will be an opportunity for all young athletes of all abilities to challenge themselves to a personal best or to help to prepare for the Bermuda School Sports Federation’s Inter Schools Cross Country Challenge.
“We look forward to seeing the children dash around the track and most importantly have fun. “There will be an awesome medal for all participants and prizes for the top three in each category.”
Racing gets underway at 6.30pm, with number and T-shirt pick up starting at 5:30pm.
