Sean Trott gunning for Lindo’s to Lindo’s 10K treble
Defending men’s champion Sean Trott has added incentive to put his best foot forward in the Lindo’s to Lindo’s 10K tomorrow.
The 34-year-old is gunning for a hat-trick of titles and is looking forward to the challenge.
“I won previously in 2019 and of course last year, so this will actually be going for number three,” Trott told The Royal Gazette.
He captured a second title and first in four years in last year’s race, starting at Lindo’s Family Foods in Warwick and finishing at Lindo’s Market in Devonshire, as he led the field across the line in 34min 18sec.
Trott is in excellent physical condition heading into the race and is also looking forward to building on a very promising and solid start to the year.
“Overall, just feeling good,” he added. “This year so far has definitely been much better than last year.
“Last year I had a bit of injury early on that I had to work back from. But this year I was able to able to kind of build off last year and continue on without losing any time so feeling good.
“All the races so far this year have been quicker than they were last year, so I feel like my form continues to improve and I am looking forward to it for sure.”
Thomas Mills finished second behind Trott in last year’s race with Seamus Fearon completing the podium places in third.
Maria Kemiji-McDonald took the women’s title last year, crossing the line in eighth overall with a time of 41min 20sec.
However, it remains unclear whether she is back to defend her title this year among a women’s field missing a host of top local acts such as Rose-Anna Hoey, who has been ruled out through health reasons.
“I am not doing the race because I was unwell this week,” Hoey confirmed.
“I usually love this race but just wasn’t feeling well at the start of the week, so I decided to take it easy this week.
“I am not as young as I used to be.”
