Take your chance to enter Run Bermuda’s Backyard
Run Bermuda’s Backyard 2025 takes place on Saturday at Southside, St. David’s.
Runners of all abilities are encouraged to test themselves in the Backyard which involves running a 4.167 miles/6,706 meters loop on a multi-terrain and picturesque course.
Runners repeat the loop every hour on the hour, whether they are challenging themselves to complete one loop, or looking to discover their personal limit. With all runners joining the starting corral each hour, this unique event promotes a fun and collegiate atmosphere where speed is not necessarily an advantage.
The last Run Bermuda’s Backyard raised $15,000 for Raleigh Bermuda’s youth life skills programme. With the continued support of Monument Re as title sponsor, 100 per cent of participants’ entry fees will again go to supporting Raleigh Bermuda.
While many of the runners will have a targeted a specific number of loops to complete, some will be looking to make it to the first night loop at 6pm, and a few will be attempting to extend the current Bermuda National Backyard record, held by Jason Williams (28 hours, 116 miles/187km), and be the “last person standing”.
“We are excited to see many new Backyarders signed up already for this year’s event for which we expect to see a record number of participants,” race co-ordinator Andy McComb said.
“It’s such a great format where everyone encourages each other to meet their own personal goal, while also supporting a very worthy cause in Raleigh Bermuda.”
The entry deadline for the event is 1pm on Tuesday and runners can sign up here
Race organisers are looking for community volunteers to assist with race marshalling. Those willing to volunteer can sign up here.
