Optimist juniors head to Chile
Four sailors and two officials from Bermuda Optimist Dinghy Association left over the weekend yesterday for Algarrobo, Chilewhere they will compete in the 2011 International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA) South American Championships.Antonio Bailey, Rory Caslin, Makai Joell and Chase Cooper have all represented Bermuda before at other IODA events.They qualified for the trip to South America following a series of trials staged late last year and early this year. Accompanying the sailors are team leader Leslie Caslin and high performance coach Zizi Staniul.The regatta starts on Thursday, leaving the sailors three days to acclimatise and practice.Somey 200 other young sailors are also in Algarrobo, a Chilean city in the San Antonio Province located on the country’s central coast.Daily updates and results will be posted on the Team Bermuda Blog at http://bodasailing.blogspot.com/
