Olympic hopeful Rockal Evans held on to his lead to win the Laser class on day four of the Bermuda International Invitational Race Week in the Great Sound.Evans was allowed to drop his worst two finishes which were his last two outings yesterday eighth place and a Did Not Finish to leave him on 13 points.Veteran sailor Malcolm Smith came second with 17 points, Brett Wright finished third with 28 points and Owen Siese, the youngest competitor at just 14, placed eighth.With only one race remaining of the Etchells class Peter Bromby leads on 18 points, Will Thompson is second on 19 points and Jason Owen, from the UK, is third with 20 points.Trevor Boyce retains first place in the J24s with 16 points. In second place is Roger Morris, from the UK, with 24 points and Pete Ramsdale is third with 25 points. Sean McDermott also has 25 points, but has lost Ramsdale, so is positioned in fourth with one race remaining today.In the IODs, the B Series started yesterday with local boy Patrick Cooper in the lead. Second is Scott Redmon, of the USA, and Jeremy Preston, from the UK, is third. Overall in the IODs, Dan Faria, from the USA, is first with 17 points, Scott Redmon from the USA is second with 21 points and Jeremy Preston, from the UK, is third with 23 points.The IOD class has three more races today.For the complete scores and race photos go to www.biirw.bm.
