Siese finishes Youth Worlds

Promising sailor Owen Seise put on a respectable showing at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships in Dublin Bay, Ireland.The Sandys Boat Club sailor placed 35th in the 58-boat Laser Radial fleet, a slight improvement from his 39th finish at the same event last year.Seise’s best finish in the 12-race regatta was eighth.He was the sole Bermudian competing among 255 sailors from 63 countries in Ireland.During the regatta, Seise came up against past Optimist rivals Just VanAanholt (Netherlands Antilles), Juanky Perdomo (Puerto Rico), Andrew McKenzie (New Zealand) and Mathias Robertson (Chile).He qualified for the championships, regarded as the premier regatta on the annual youth sailing calendar, at last December’s Miami Orange Bowl regatta.Australian Mark Spearman won the Boys Laser Radial Division with Ireland’s Finn Lynch and Norway’s Hermann Tomasgaard rounding off the top three.
