Team Bermuda: sailors representing Bermuda at North American Championships

The Bermuda Optimist Dinghy Association has announced the young sailors who will reperesent the island at the 2024 continental and world championships.

Hosted by Sandys Boat Club in November, the qualification regatta determined those selected for the IODA North American Championships in July in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with the World Championships selection trials taking place in February and March at Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.

Just five sailors, Miguel Power, Nina Gotfredsen, Noah Amaradasa, Rory Savage and Evan Davis will be representing Bermuda at the World Championships in Argentina in December, with only Gotfredsen and Power having previous experience at that level.

Making it into the Bermuda team for the North American Championships are Power, Amaradasa, James Ganal, Evan Davis, Rory Savage, Harry Brown, Emma Brown, Gotfredsen and Thomas McBain.

For the majority of the team, bar McBain and the Brown siblings, it will be their last chance to represent Bermuda at these championships as they will age out of the Optimist class in December.
