Adriana Penruddocke makes good start to Olympic regatta
Adriana Penruddocke saw less action than she anticipated on day two of her Olympic regatta.
Penruddocke was expecting to feature in three races in Marseille on Friday, but was only involved in two after the third race of the day was postponed until Saturday.
The young Bermudian made a terrific start to the competition on Thursday when finishing fourteenth of the 43 competitors in the women’s dinghy in the only race held on the day.
Full of confidence heading into the second day of competition, Penruddocke finished 35th in race two and 26th in race three. With sailors allowed to drop their worst result, the 24-year-old sits 26th overall, and is pleased with her performance with three of the ten races completed.
“It’s been great so far and being able to have the speed in all conditions is great and my decisions have also been good,” Penruddocke said.
“I have made a few mistakes and in this fleet any small mistake is punished massivley but I have already made some good learnings for the future.
“There is still plenty of racing left as we’ve done only three races so far, which means a lot can happen and I continue to look forward to giving my best and I know I can be up in the scores.”
