John Hale came out on top in the 2024 Bermuda Etchells National Championships.

After racing was cancelled on Saturday because of high winds, Hale came out on top after some tight races in Granaway Deep but conditions took its toll with some of the boats facing technical issues and succumbing to breakdowns.

With all involved happy to have the fleet back on the water, Hale and his crew Dirk Kneulman and Jim GIbson took the overall honours beating Tim Patton into second and Paul Wright into third.

Named after American designer Skip Etchells, the three-man racing keelboat is made predominantly of fibreglass and are hugely popular in Australia, where this year’s World Championships were held.
