“The team’s performance was good and all on board was happy with the result,” Evans told The Royal Gazette.

“It’s a fairly new team and we have been sailing together for maybe nine weeks now. This was our first time doing this regatta and maybe my fourth time in total.

“The conditions was 10 to 12 knots and the race was a long-distance race around marks in Sydney Harbour.”

Evans’s boat finished 1min 10sec behind winners Like Oxygen, and pipped Middle Harbour Yacht Club’s Khaleesi for second by a mere 12 seconds.

The Sydney Harbour Combined Clubs Inshore Series is conducted jointly by Middle Harbour Yacht Club, Manly Yacht Club, Royal Australian Naval Sailing Association, Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club, Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron and Vaucluse Yacht Club and consists of ten races.
