Holloway targeting Hogges as season turning point
Ocean City FC coach Neil Holloway has challenged his team to turn their current disappointing run into a lengthy winning streak starting with a victory over Bermuda Hogges this weekend.Although City have lost three out of four games this season, Holloway is adamant those results have not been a true reflection of his team’s performances and is confident they can arrest the slump against the Hogges. The New Jersey-based outfit arrive on the Island tomorrow following a moral-boosting draw which saw them fight back from two-goals down against Long Island Rough Riders. And Holloway is looking for a similar gutsy display from his side who lock horns with the Hogges on Saturday night.“Results wise it has not been an ideal start to the season,” said Holloway. “However, we feel that our first four results do not give a true reflection of our team. We have played three of the strongest teams in the division in Reading, Jersey Express and Long Island and we feel that we matched each of these teams well and were a little unlucky.“Our last game in the end felt like a win for our lads, so we will take great momentum from this result and look to put together a winning run starting in Bermuda.”Like City, Hogges are also searching for their first win of the campaign and Holloway is braced for a close-fought contest against a side he remembers as “individually talented and dangerous going forward.”Although City are missing a few players though injury, Holloway said he would still be able to put out a strong team which he believed was more than capable of beating the Hogges.“We have a few injuries that are preventing some from travelling, but in general we have a strong squad and will be putting out a strong eleven to win the game,” said Holloway.“Overall last year was a little disappointing as we did not make the playoffs. Our goal each year is to have a winning season, but we came up a little short last time around. That is why we have a number of new faces this year, and I feel that we have a stronger group of players this season.”Hogges take on Ocean City at BAA Field on Saturday. Kick off is at 7pm.
