Young shot stoppers go through their paces during the recent Eurostar Goalkeeping Academy clinic at the National Sports Centre.

Budding young shot stoppers from the Bermuda Brazilian Football School (BBFS) were put through their paces earlier this week when the Eurostar Goalkeeper Academy visited the Island.More than 40 custodians attended the two-day clinic held at the National Sports Centre. The founder and director of the Academy, Bermuda-born John Moreira, provided the training for three age groups: Under-seven, Under-eight, Under-nine, Under-12 and 13 and over.Moreira, a USSF National ‘A’ licenced coach, worked on the four components of the position: technical, tactical, physical and mental. The players in each group were put through various drills and taught the fundamental points of keeping. He also gave insight into the demands placed on keepers, the importance of dedicated training, the value of education and maintaining a healthy diet.Moreira was assisted by three of Bermuda’s up and coming keepers, Stefan Dill (LR University and BAA) Eunico Trott (St. George’s Colt’s) and Corey Richardson (St. David’s) who also participated in the advanced keeping sessions. For more information on Euro Star Goalkeeping visit www.eurostarkeeper.com
