Steede strike lifts Hogges to fifth
A Kwame Steede strike was enough to give Bermuda Hogges a narrow 1-0 win over Ocean City Nor’easters last night.Steede’s 36 minute goal gave Hogges their second win in three days, following a 3-0 pasting of New Jersey Rangers on Friday night. The Bermuda side were also thankful to another fine goalkeeping performance from Thaj Bell, who was called upon to make a series of vital saves in each half as the home side laid seige to the Hogges’ goal.Lashun Dill and Daniel Andrade were both booked in a fesity second half, where Nor’easters threw everything they had at Hogges, creating twice as many chances, but failing to break through.Nor’easters’ frustrations finally boiled over, and Salvatore Pistone was also booked in a frantic final five minutes where Nor’easters looked to continue their impressive record after salvaging a draw in four games where they have been behind with less than 10 minutes to go.The win takes Hogges to fifth in the Mid Atlantic Division, and Maurice Lowe’s men next face Central Jersey on Wednesday night in the third game of their road trip, which ends with a game against Reading United on Friday night.
