Hogges undone by high-flying Reading

Reading United 2Bermuda Hogges 0Bermuda Hogges coach Maurice Lowe refused to be downbeat despite his team signing off with a defeat in their final away match of the season against Reading United last night.Lowe’s side were reduced to ten men when Damon Ming was “harshly” sent off for two bookable offences in the second half.Hogges finished their final away trip of the campaign with a record of two wins and two defeats; a return which Lowe is more than satisfied with.“If you’d told me we would have taken six points from the four away games then I would have been more than happy with that,” he said. What should have been a one-and-half hour journey to the stadium took Hogges three hours, which had an adverse impact on the team’s display, said Lowe.“We only had ten minutes to warm up and conceded two early goals, so the journey definitely had a negative impact on us it took us three hours to get there.”Lowe was also disappointed with the officiating in the match.“I thought Damon’s sending off was very harsh and left us with a mountain to climb in the second period.“There were eight substitutions in the first half and yet no injury time, which was strange.“Having said that, I’m very proud of the players and there have been some great performances during the trip. Kwame Steede, Tajh Bell, Reiko Trott and Daniel Andrade have all impressed.”Hogges are next in action at home on Thursday against Long Island Rough Riders.
