ISL bank on power up front for ‘Clash on the Rock’
Cecoy Robinson, Jason Lee and Ralph Bean jr. will lead the Island Soccer League’s All-Star team against their much-fancied Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) opponents at the National Sports Centre next month. The ISL have assembled a potent attacking side for the third annual classic, dubbed the Clash on the Rock.Last summer saw the visiting MISL team, which includes a number of top indoor players from the US, win the match 8-3.Knights coach Keishon Smith will be on the bench for the All-Stars while assisting him with the coaching duties will be Don Vickers from Arsenal. The pair will come up against a familiar foe in Arsenal head coach John Barry Nusum.Leading the line for the hosts will be the league’s two most prolific scorers this season, Robinson and Lee, who have 16 and 15 goals respectively, while Arsenal’s talisman Ralph Bean will pull the strings for the ISL in midfield.Lee also set the ISL single game scoring record with his seven goals against the Royal last week.Bean, who will be making his second All-Star appearance, said it was an honour to be recognised for his performances this season by the ISL All-Star selectors.“This is would be my second All-Star game as I played in it last year, and it’s always a good thing to be selected for an All-Star event,” said Bean. “Something like this suggests that your performances have been consistent over the season and they have been noticed.“Selection to the ISL All-Star team has an added bonus because it’s an opportunity to play against foreign opposition.”Hewerton Moreira and Rhicardino who dazzled the crowd with their skill in last year’s match lead the MISL All-Stars.The side will also have newcomers Byron Alvarez, who won the MISL scoring title with 80 points last year, and skillful defender Jonathan Greenfield.Baltimore Blast head coach Danny Kelly will once again coach the MISL squad.ISL team: Jahron Dickinson (Apex), Daniel Johnson (Apex), Cecoy Robinson (Arsenal), Ralph Bean (Arsenal), Jason Smith (Arsenal), Quincy Aberdeen (Kings), Ian Coke (Knights), Shayne Hollis (Knights), Kaiya Darrell (Knights), Darrin Dowling (Royal), Kevin Lambe (Storm), Lonnie Bascome (Titans), Blenn Bean (Union), Jahmel Swan (Union), Jason Lee (Union).
