It was good to see the 2007 World Cup team get a chance to be acknowledged in Bermuda and back this up with a great victory of the MCC on Monday night.It goes to show that they still have the quality to play and also show the younger players how to play the game.The older guys showed the current squad how it should be done and it was nice to see this, especially against the MCC who have over the years come down here and had their way with local teams.This time around it was our turn to put on a good performance and it was nice to see.It is important to have these type of teams come to Bermuda, for quite some time now we haven’t had a team tour here. The one thing about playing home and away is that playing away in different conditions shows your character heart you in order to get the result, so you need to get games in against quality opposition to test yourself.Now, the big news this week in football is the Carlos Tevez saga and how he reacted to being called as a substitute after warming up only to be told to sit down and then was called upon again.This is ridiculous, you can’t have these guys being paid all this money and not wanting to play for whatever reason, if you get paid for the job you have to be available for the call when it is made.I think he is wrong for what he did as they pay him but there has to be something deeper then that, he wouldn’t just not want to play, he wants to play every week. There is something definitely wrong in all of this, but it is the best interest that both of them part ways.Players have to show some sort of loyalty, but they feel invincible given the terms that they play under, soome players think that because they are making £250,000 a week people can’t tell them to do anything.It may not be the best way to go about it but that’s the reality of it all, you still need to humble and play to the best of your ability. Roberto Mancini has done well in this circumstance because he has been there before with Mario Balotelli, but he and Tevez are are two different players.Tevez has been in the game for so long now that he knows the ropes but Balotelli is young and he and Mancini know each other from their days in Italy so they have their own set-up in how they go about things.Looking towards the weekend, Arsenal travel to Tottenham looking to seek revenge on their recent strings of defeats to their Northern London rivals.You look for these games to be very interesting, Spurs have won the last two or three and the Gunners are struggling a little bit, but in the Champions League they are doing well so it may be a case of who wants it more.West Ham play Crystal Palace, which should be a good game, we haven’t played them in quite some time and we usually have good games.I have fond memories of playing against them and scoring a few goals, but this is a must win situation for both clubs, we lost our last match against Ipswich Town so we must get back into winning ways.In order to get promotion you have to win and so we are looking to get the three points and push on.
