BAA’s undefeated record broken
BAA 1 St George’s 2A combination of poor defending and the quality St. George’s attack saw BAA lose their 100 percent record as the East Enders grabbed all three points. After 25 minutes a sustained spell of pressure from the St. George’s forward line culminated in left back Darrel Mellor putting through his own goal and within five minutes more poor defending from the BAA back four allowed an unmarked Rudell Pitcher to finish from 10 yards. The second half was a different story as BAA reshuffled the pack and bombarded the St. George’s defence but a combination of fine goalkeeping, poor BAA finishing and the woodwork saw a plethora of chances go begging. With 10 minutes remaing Damian Mendoza finally found the back of the net for BAA but it was all to no avail as St. George’s saw out the ninety minutes.Flanagan’s Onions 4 West End 3Frances Desilva jr couldn’t save his side from defeat as his hat-trick came to nothing in their loss to Flanagan’s Onions.Desilva put his side ahead early in the first half but Ben Ready picked his spot and fired ino the bottom right hand corner to level matters.Desilva gave his team another lead but again it was short-lived as Keith Szmierek planted a header in at the back post.Phil Anderson put Onions on top for the first time from the penalty spot after a handball in the box, and Jimmy Caplice capitalised on an error from the United ‘keeper who had the ball at his feet outside the box but passed it right to the Oions player who ran it into the net.Desilva pulled his team within one but it was too little too late as Onions grabbed all three points.Lock N Key 1 Robin Hood 0Lock N Key were made to fight for this narrow victory over Robin Hood.In what was a competitive and hard fought game, Key’s goal came just before half-time when they broke through the Hood defence and Quinton Basden scored with a low drive past Hood’s goalkeeper Paul Fox.The game was held up for several minutes in the first half when Johnny Neacsu was stretchered to an ambulance with a badly dislocated ankle. The second half flowed much the same as the first with end to end football, with Hood having only themselves to blame for not getting a share of the spoils after wasting many of the chances they created.North Village 3 Vasco 2Kyle Lightbourne jumped off the bench to grab the winner as North Village came from behind to beat Vasco. In a game of two halves, Rui Sebastiao and Rui Rocha had given the champions a cushion before Tafari Outerbridge pulled his side within one heading into the break. The lead should have been greater with several clear cut chances missed which Vasco were ultimately made to pay for.The tide swung in the second half and Village were able to complete their comeback on a couple of well taken chances by Lightbourne who came on at half-time and made the difference.Tuff Dogs 3 Lobster Pot 1Tuff Dogs got goals from three different players as they beat Lobster Pot.Yusef Pitt, Kevin Hurdle and Jeff Franklin all scored in the win while Vaughn Davis netted the lone goal for Lobster Pot.
