Close encounter at the West End

Derek DeChabert predicts Somerset and PHC will draw tonight

Somerset v PHCBeaten Friendship Trophy finalists Trojans will look to continue their fine league form as they begin the second half of the season that will have the side play six of their nine games at home.Having played over the festive period, they should hit the ground running at Somerset Cricket Club tonight.Tackling the league leaders won’t be an easy task as PHC will be up for this match after being knocked out at the first hurdle in the Christmas tournament. The rest will have allowed the Zebras to regroup but a lack of matches could work against them.Prediction: 2-2Boulevard v Dandy TownLevel on points with PHC, Town won’t make the same mistake twice when they play Blazers at BAA Field tomorrow night. In the teams’ first meeting, Boulevard pulled off an upset at St John’s Field and a repeat of that result would be a telling blow for the champion hopefuls as they prepare for the run-in.Both sides were out early in the Friendship, so it may be a sloppy game but give the edge to Town.Prediction: Town 3-1Devonshire Cougars v North VillageHaving successfully defended their Friendship title last weekend, Village will aim to continue their assault on their league crown at Devonshire Rec.But Cougars will be looking to make inroads back in the title chase, only three points back.Prediction: Village 3-2St David’s v Robin HoodThis a game that could go a long way to deciding both sides’ final position in the league. Neither can afford to lose. The difference will be which team can absorb pressure the best, although it could be a high scoring affair with plenty of theatrics.Prediction: Robin Hood 3-1Southampton Rangers v St George’sTheir last match was won by the East Enders, although they slid down the table as the first half of the season drew to a close.Rangers may be able to create more chances on their home ground, Southampton Oval, and should have a slight advantage.Prediction: Rangers 2-1
