Crevoisier on Island for coaching course
Former Liverpool coach Jacques Crevoisier is currently on Island conducting a UEFA ‘C’ License equivalence course run by ABC Football School in partnership with Bermuda Athletic Association (BAA).The course, that will place emphasis on a wide variety of topics ranging from coaching education to football knowledge, is being held at BAA Field from May 9-16.At least 40 local coaches have signed up for the UEFA ‘C’ License equivalence course, with 20 alone from North Village Community Club. The combined 40 hour long course has been divided into practical and theoretical aspects. The theoretical aspect will include among a host of topics coaching programmes for each age category, coaching education and development, coaching competence and keys to team success. The practical aspect of the course will place emphasis on the fundamentals of the sport such as control, passing and dribbling. All participants are required to have an ABC Football School Coaching Handbook and Grassroots to Under 10, 12, 14 Coaching Books developed by UEFA consultant and ABC technical advisor Crevoisier. All handbooks can be purchased at either ABC Football School or Brown and Company.“I have 100 exercises for Under-14 alone and everything is easy to understand and implement on the pitch,” Crevoisier said. “So even if I am not a coach I can begin to do something correct if I respect all the aspects.”All participants in the ‘C’ License course must also have a desire to learn and teach children how to develop as footballers using a modern progression based development plan.“Last time I came here I had in front of me people that love football who are happy to be on the pitch and learn and it was a very good and positive atmosphere,” Crevoisier said. “When you have football people together it’s always a good time and it’s better if people can interact with me and not only read from the handbook. They can ask all the questions they want.”Crevoisier is due to return to the Island in September to conduct the final phase of the UEFA ‘C’ License Course which entails a final assessment on involvement, theoretical knowledge and football qualities. He is also currently negotiating with UEFA and the Scottish FA to create a cost effective and efficient way for local coaches to obtain their UEFA ‘B’ License. For further details on the ‘C’ License Course visit abcfootballschool.com.
