Nahki Wells, the Bradford City striker, has once again been linked with a move to Championship side Queen’s Park Rangers.

Bradford are “willing to sell” Wells to Harry Redknapp’s QPR for £3 million when the English transfer window reopens in January, according to reports in the English media.

During the previous transfer window it was reported that QPR had lined up a similar bid for the Bermuda striker.

However, Bradford manager Phil Parkinson insisted then that the prolific striker was not for sale.

It is understood Bradford are keen to offer Wells a new deal that will keep him at Valley Parade beyond his current contract that expires in the summer of 2015.

“We have asked Nahki if he wants to talk about a new contract, but he just wants to concentrate on his football,” Bradford’s joint chairman Mark Lawn said this week.

“We would love to sign him for longer, of course we would. But we have to respect his wishes.”

Wells has declined to comment on reports linking him with a move away from Bradford.

The 23-year old has been an integral part of City’s resurgence, helping the Yorkshire club reach the final of the English League Cup and gain promotion to League One last season.

“He has been a big part of what this club has achieved over the past 18 months,” added Lawn. “We want to keep Nahki.

“Obviously, the next transfer window opens in a month or so and that is bound to lead to more speculation.

“What it means, though, is there could be a big decision for the club to make in January. And also a big decision for Nahki to make.”

Should any deal between QPR and Bradford go through, it would make Wells’ first million pound Bermudian footballer.

“If Nahki does leave, he won’t do so on the cheap,” added Lawn.

Wells’ stock has steadily risen since his move to Valley Parade in the summer of 2011.

He banged in 26 goals in all competitions last term, scoring in the Bradford play-off final win over Northampton Town to become the first Bermudian to score at Wembley Stadium.

Earlier this season Wells equalled a club scoring record after hitting the target in eight consecutive matches.

The impressive feat earned the player Sky Bet League One Player of the Month for August plaudits.

And despite being sidelined for nearly a month through ankle injury, Wells has scored 13 goals, including a hat-trick against Coventry City, in 16 appearances for Bradford so far this season.
