A Keston Lewis brace secured three points for Flanagan’s Onions after beating Somerset Trojans at Goose Gosling Field in a rescheduled Premier Division game last night.

Adrian Burrows scored for Trojans to open the scoring, while Jake Fox chipped in with the equaliser for the home team before Lewis’s strikes.

“It was a good performance by the guys overall and even when we went down, we fancied getting back in the match and winning it,” Lewis said.

“For a match that had nothing on the line in terms of positions and winning something, it was great to get among the goals.

“Credit to the lads who fought for the whole game and were deserving of the win.”

Burrows opened the scoring in the 19th minute, but Fox, the Onions midfielder, pulled his team level, firing past Shaquille Bean, the Trojans goalkeeper.

Bean, who was having an impressive game, was then substituted after a heavy collision in the area trying to collect a cross. He was replaced by Kirk Brown, the substitute goalkeeper.

Brown conceded two goals, the first being Lewis’s toe poke from 18 yards.

Lewis then turning on a dime and planting his effort at the near post to make it 3-1.

Onions move into third position in the league table. Trojans drop into fourth place.
