Ralph Bean Jr has resigned as coach of Premier Division side North Village Rams.

Stephen Coddington, the North Village president, confirmed that Bean stood down from the post at the end of the season.

“He wants to still be around and be supportive of the new coach to ensure it’s a smooth transition,” Coddington said. “When we do things in the pre-season he intends on being there as well. It’s not as though the club got rid of him or he is running away.”

Bean succeeded Shaun Goater as Village coach in January 2013 after the latter opted not to renew his contract. Goater, the former Manchester City striker, has since moved to England.

During Bean’s first full season as Village’s coach reached the FA Cup final where they lost 1-0 to Dandy Town Hornets.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that among a shortlist of candidates vying to replace Bean’s at Bernard Park is Richard Todd, the former Bermuda Football Association National Academy director.

However, when asked about a replacement for Bean, Coddington remained tight-lipped.

“We’re looking to secure someone as quickly as possible and that’s all I can reveal at the moment,” Coddington said. “We are going to look at anything that’s best for North Village, and we’ve been doing our research.”

Todd, meanwhile, has hinted at a return to coaching in the Premier Division while keeping his cards close to his chest.

The former St George’s Colts coach resigned as the National Academy director at the end of his three-year contract last month.

In an interview with The Royal Gazette Todd explained that he stood down because he felt that he was viewed as nothing more than an administrative clerk by the BFA hierarchy and subjected to “extreme levels” of disrespect.
