Klopp to sign Liverpool deal today
Juergen Klopp will officially sign a deal to become Liverpool’s new manager when he lands in Merseyside later today.
After days of speculation, the charismatic 48-year-old was expected to finally sign his contract as replacement for Brendan Rodgers, who was sacked on Sunday.
The former Borussia Dortmund coach , who led the club to two Bundesliga crowns and a Champions League final, is credited with reviving ‘Die Schwarzgelben’ and moulding them into one of the most exciting brands in world football during his seven years in Westphalia.
Klopp has been out of work since May, when he left Dortmund to take a sabbatical.
He is expected to have Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz - his former assistants at the Bundesliga club - as part of his coaching staff at Anfield.
Sean O’Driscoll, who was Rodgers’s assistant, has left the club while Gary McAllister has been removed as first-team coach, although he is considering the offer of another role with the club.
Klopp’s first game in charge of the club will be away at Tottenham in the Barclays Premier League on October 17.
