X-Roads storm to the top in style
X-Roads went top of the First Division for the first time this season after a 3-1 victory away to Southampton Rangers at the weekend.
Yesterday’s tenth round of fixtures were hit by the rain as all three Premier Division matches were called off.
However, it proved to be a good outing for X-Roads at Southampton Oval where they registered their seventh win on the trot to replace Young Men’s Social Club at the top of the table.
Social Club were trailing Hamilton Parish 2-1 at PHC Field when the match was abandoned because of unfit conditions.
X-Roads, who drew 3-3 with Rangers on the opening day, took a tenth-minute lead through teenager Aaron Spencer before Andrew Raynor, a first-half substitute because of an injury, equalised in the 39th minute.
Tyquan Perinchief, also a substitute, put X-Roads in front for good in the 68th minute before Daniel Baker made certain of the points with a third goal late on.
Social Club, still the only unbeaten team in the league, were trailing to Parish when the match was called off at half-time because of the pitch conditions.
Dahlano Simons put Social Club ahead in the 14th minute before an own goal by Giovanni Saltus tied it in the 28th minute. Jeremiah Steede put Parish ahead in the 45th minute.
St George’s climbed ahead of Rangers in the table when they beat Paget Lions 4-0 at Wellington Oval where midfielder Kyle Denbrook scored a hat-trick as all the goals came in the second half. Donavan Thompson got the other for the East Enders.
St David’s also moved ahead of Rangers after their 5-0 win over bottom team Ireland Rangers at Malabar Field.
Kontaicf Burton and Dunte Albouy both scored twice to guide St David’s to a convincing victory. Burton opened the scoring in the nineteenth minute before Albouy doubled the visiting side’s lead three minutes before the interval.
St David’s pulled further ahead when Burton grabbed a second in the 65th minute before Jerome Usher made it 4-0 in the 78th. Albouy rounded off the rout with his second goal of the game in the 89th minute.
On Saturday night BAA thrashed Wolves 7-1.
