Nathan Trott took his flawless display in his stride after helping the England Under-20 side beat Portugal 3-0 at Manchester City’s Academy Stadium on Tuesday.

The Bermuda goalkeeper impressed again against the visiting side as he kept a fourth successive clean sheet for the Young Lions, who prevailed on goals from Chris Willock, Keinan Davis (penalty) and captain Easah Suliman.

“Having four clean sheets out of four possible is a great record for any international keeper to have,” Trott told The Royal Gazette.

“It’s been a long season and to end my last under-20 completing my fourth clean sheet felt great.”

It was the second successive victory for the Young Lions, who edged Poland 1-0 last week in Bielsku-Bialej when Aston Villa’s Keinan Davis scored a late winner.

Reflecting upon on his performances, Trott said: “I think they were games where there won’t be much action for the majority of the game and then all of a sudden you need to make saves. I think staying concentrated was the hardest part in both games.”

The former BAA goalkeeper said it is a privilege to be a part of coach Keith Downing’s squad, who are the reigning under-20 World Cup champions.

“It’s a big compliment being in a squad as good as this one,” Trott added. “Everyone works really hard and it’s showed in all of the games we’ve won together.”

Trott also enjoyed international success last summer as he was a part of the England Under-19 team who won the European Championship in Georgia.

The son of former St George’s and Devonshire Colts goalkeeper Dwayne Trott made his England Under-20 debut in a 3-0 win away to Holland last August.

The 19-year-old has established himself as the No 1 for the West Ham under-23s and has also been named in David Moyes’s first-team squad this season.
