The Bermuda Football Coaches Association is offering a new coaching course aimed towards parents, team managers, PE teachers and present and former players.

Sanctioned by the Bermuda Football Association, the Introduction to Coaching D licence course will serve as the entry point for the BFCA’s coaching education pathway.

The D licence is developed by Jacques Crevoisier, a top French coach, who has been visiting Bermuda to deliver courses since 2006. The course will be held over two weekends, June 1 to 3, and June 8 to 10. It includes classroom and on-field sessions, with individual assessments held at the end of the course.

The 15-hour course will qualify candidates to receive the BFCA D licence, which is required to coach under-7, under-9, and under-11 teams. Successful participates will also be considered for recommendation as candidates for the Uefa C equivalent course.

Participants will learn how to organise small-sided games and age appropriate sessions, and develop in players a variety of technical skills such as juggling, passing, receiving, shooting, dribbling and running with the ball. The curriculum also focuses on educating parents about positive support. Since the BFCA’s creation in 2013, more than 120 local coaches have attained the Uefa C licence and a further 24 have achieved the B licence through courses delivered by the BFCA. Bermuda is now the only country where Uefa licences are offered outside of Europe.

The BFCA underwrites some of the expenses of its courses to keep access to coaching education affordable.
