Wells has been ‘first class’ says Sinton

Top draw: Andy Sinton believes Nahki Wells has been "first class" since joining QPR on loan

Nahki Wells has been “absolutely fantastic” since joining Queens Park Rangers on loan, according to Andy Sinton, the former QPR and England winger.

Sinton, who won 12 caps for England from 1991-1993, believes the Bermuda striker has given the Sky Bet Championship side a huge lift and has praised his energy and “first-class” link-up play.

“I’ve been really impressed with [Wells],” Sinton told The Loftcast, the club’s podcast. “He’s playing games regularly and he’s playing with a smile on his face.

“Nahki’s energy has been absolutely fantastic as has his defending from the front — that’s your first line of defence.

“His movement, his game understanding, his knowhow of bringing other players into the game have all been first class.”

Sinton has backed Wells, on loan from Premier League side Burnley, to end his barren spell in front of goal sooner rather than later.

“All he’s lacking is that elusive first goal,” said the 52-year-old, who made 161 appearances for QPR. “Let’s hope it’s very, very soon and in the next one [away to Ipswich Town on Saturday].

“The signing of him and Tomer [Hemed, on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion] before the Wigan game gave everyone a lift. You’ve only got to look at their record to know there’s goals in them.

“You don’t have a record like Nahki’s ... it’s not too far away. I think once he gets that first one he will continue to push on.

“I’ve been very impressed with him at the training ground and what he’s brought to the team. He’s been top draw.”
